Aloe vera
Aloe is a plant whose thousand-year history is incredibly fascinating and interesting. Already in ancient Egypt, the juice of this plant was known for its effects on beauty, health and long life. Today, over 300 species of Aloe are known, but not every species has special “miraculous” properties. The best effects for the human body are provided by Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller. Its wild beauty and therapeutic properties have given it a legendary status. It is truly one of nature’s most amazing gifts…
Botanically, it belongs to the lily family. It thrives in subtropical and tropical regions because it loves dryness and high temperatures. Until recently, Europeans used it only as a laxative powder. However, these properties are mainly concentrated in the aloe leaf’s skin and the thin layer of fibres underneath. Only the fresh Aloe Vera gel, which is found inside the leaf, is processed for internal and external use. Aloe leaves are harvested by hand when they reach a height of 1 m and a leaf width of 15 cm.
Although the remarkable properties of Aloe Vera gel are still being investigated by various research institutes around the world, there is already much evidence that this gel is indeed very successful and quick in healing everyday domestic injuries such as burns and cuts, insect bites, digestive and intestinal problems, allergies and eczema. The gel consumed as a drink is stimulating and invigorating. Due to its moisturizing, antibiotic and pain-relieving properties, Aloe Vera gel is added to cosmetics, where it is a whole range of products. Women (and men) have used aloe for years in rejuvenating creams, face masks, shampoos and other cosmetic products. It is an excellent first aid product.
Aloe Vera gel contains more than 200 important ingredients that are combined by nature to perfect harmony so that the effects of the components present are apparently enhanced by the influence of this harmony. When attempts were made to separate some of the components of Aloe Vera gel, they individually lost their unique potency.
The gel also has adaptogenic properties, which means that the organisms of different individuals make use of the very substances from it that they lack. Therefore, the effect of the product on a person also varies.
It is a proven fact that it rejuvenates, revitalizes, cleanses and heals, has antibacterial and disinfectant effects. Scientific studies have confirmed that Aloe Vera destroys bacteria, viruses and fungi or at least inhibits their growth. It significantly promotes the production of skin cells, increases the regenerative capacity of the skin, strengthens the body’s immunity and has a beneficial effect on the digestive tract. In laboratory tests, emodin has prevented cancer cells from dividing and induced apoptosis, the term for programmed cell death. Our body uses apoptosis to remove unnecessary, damaged and “abnormally” behaving cells.
Skin diseases: acne, atopic eczema, various dermatitis, psoriasis (both internal and external application), tibial ulcers, burns and scalds, bruises and hematomas, cold sores and shingles, mycosis, hair loss, dandruff.
Problems caused by overreaction of the body: allergic and hay fever, asthma, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, loss of pigment (vitiligo).
Digestive disorders: intestinal obstruction, constipation, heartburn, pancreatic problems, stomach problems, stomach ulcers, gall bladder problems, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, jaundice.
Infectious diseases: tonsillitis, otitis media, staphylococcal infections.
In every household there is sure to be a medicine cabinet containing a rich collection of medicines. Something crawling on a person? So he usually reaches for medicine. But read the enclosed leaflet of just plain acylpyrine. You’ll be surprised at its possible side effects. Let’s try to think about overmedication. Our children already have a lot of toxins in their bodies and so they are going to have big health problems in adulthood. Ordinary antibiotics are no longer working, and we are resorting to the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, the use of which brings additional unwanted side effects.
Taking Aloe Vera, unlike synthetic drugs does not have these side effects, it is not toxic. Aloe Vera can penetrate under the skin due to the presence of lignin, promotes blood clotting, accelerates wound healing, aids in the removal of diseased tissue, suppresses the reproduction of viruses, bacteria and fungi, heals cuts, reduces bleeding, suppresses negative skin manifestations, reduces the intensity of inflammatory processes, relieves pain. Aloe Vera supports the energy of a person, modulates his immunity, cleanses and maintains the patency of blood capillaries. Through diet, many harmful substances enter the body and are retained there for a very long time (e.g. aluminium up to 20 years).

Some of the nutrients contained in Aloe Vera
Vitamin A is an important antioxidant that destroys free radicals. It promotes growth and regeneration of tissues, hair and bone formation. Strengthens the immune system.
Vitamin B1 is essential for healthy nervous tissue and proper function of the heart and digestive system. Important in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy.
Vitamin B2 helps produce healthy skin and red blood cells. Necessary to release energy from food.
Vitamin B6 assists in breaking down proteins into energy, necessary for healthy skin and immune system.
Vitamin B12 is normally only found in dairy and meat products. To find it in a plant is a real rarity and therefore receives considerable attention from vegetarians. It increases energy levels, helps in Krebs cycle reactions, (necessary for normal energy metabolism).
Vitamin C is again an important antioxidant, strengthens the immune system, promotes healthy cell development. It is needed in the formation of tissue fibers.
Vitamin E helps in tissue growth and maintaining healthy skin. A very powerful antioxidant that protects cells from free radicals. Stimulates the immune system and healing.
Vitamin M promotes DNA/RNA synthesis and cell proliferation.
Minerals Aloe contains over twenty major minerals that are essential for the human body.
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body and is the main mineral in bones and teeth. It improves communication in the nervous system, helps normal muscle function.
Copper helps in healthy growth, along with other minerals, it protects the body.
Chromium supports enzyme activity and is used in blood formation.
Magnesium plays an important role in the body’s metabolism, aids in calcium absorption and the formation of teeth and bones, necessary for proper nerve impulses and muscle contractions.
Manganese promotes healthy growth, is part of bone formation.
Zinc aids healing and healthy growth, fights free radicals, strengthens the immune system.
Iron, together with haemoglobin, carries out oxygen transfer.
Phosphorus helps calcium in healthy bone growth.
Sodium chloride is absolutely essential to maintain normal water balance in the body. Together with potassium, it functions as one of the body’s regulators.
Potassium works in muscle cells and blood plasma.
Amino acids are essential for the growth and maintenance of the body. They are often called the building blocks of life. Stabilized Aloe Vera gel contains 18 of our body’s 22 amino acids, including all eight essential ones that our body cannot make. Amino acids are actually the protein building blocks for new cells in the skin and tissues.
Enzymes are substances of a protein nature found only in living organisms. They act as catalysts for the metabolic and energy metabolism of the cell. Every time you put food in your mouth, enzymes are put to work.
Saponins are plant glycosides that form a foam in aqueous solutions and are used as a detergent and emulsifier. They have natural cleansing and antiseptic properties.
Mucinous polysaccharides-MPS are immune system stimulants.

Perhaps all the possible health benefits of this royal succulent have been listed, but one thing is certain – Aloe is a long sought after remedy, especially in these days of civilisation diseases, from which much can indeed be expected and it is up to us to decide whether we choose to test the effects of Aloe on ourselves.
Aloe offers the possibility of a very desirable cleansing treatment – detoxification, digestive adjustment, emptying, replenishment of vital substances in terms of cellular nutrition.
However, it is important to point out that it is important to choose a product from a manufacturer whose modern technological process guarantees the highest content of all the substances contained, especially the immunomodulatory ones, such as mucilaginous polysaccharides – MPS.
How to know which Aloe Vera product is of good quality?
It’s not that complicated. A few years ago, the globally recognised International Aloe Science Council (IASC) www.iasc.org was established, where you can find out if the manufacturer has this certification for the final product and not just for the raw material in the certification section. Another valued certification is, for example, the Fresenius Institute www.institut-fresenius.de
